Easter Island at the eastern edge of the "Polynesian Triangle" has had 9 cases and no deaths. In October last year a referendum was held about reopening its borders. 66% voted no.
Samoa where 83% of the eligible population is fully vaccinated, reports no recent cases. American Samoa reports 18 new cases and no deaths. Tonga has had no recent cases but is concerned about an Australian relief ship with 29 cases aboard. "No one here will get close to them" and all the supplies are quarantined. Approximately 60% of Tongans are fully vaccinated.
Vanuatu reports 7 new cases and 1 death. Some 65% of the eligible have been vaccinated once and 41% twice. Solomon Islands report 350 new cases and 3 deaths, with figures continuing to rise. 10% of the population is fully vaccinated. Kiribati reports 65 new cases and is considering extending its lockdown. There is concern with the number of cases "soaring" that the government and people are ill-prepared to face the pandemic.
Fiji reports 223 new cases, mostly in the northern Division, and 3 child deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 791. Some 1,980 people are in isolation ad 155 in hospital. There are concerns the hospitals would not cope with the omicron virus.
Papua New Guinea figures, almost certainly underestimates, report 36,866 total cases, 157 new cases, 392 active cases and 778 total deaths. Most cases have reportedly been in the National Capital District. Gross under-reporting is likely in more remote areas. Barely 4% have been vaccinated.
French territories have all been badly affected by the virus. French Polynesia had 342,983 cases with a recent daily average of 82. There are 636 reported deaths. Approximately 60% of its citizens have been fully vaccinated. New Caledonia reports 14,157 new cases and a total of 282 deaths. Finally, the small islands of Wallis and Futuna, population 11,000, which lie between Tonga and Samoa and have close contact with New Caledonia have had 453 confirmed cases and 7 deaths.
