National Federation Party Leader Biman Prasad and Fiji Labour Party Leader Mahendra Chaudhry have joined the peaceful workers gathering at the Fiji Teachers Union office carpark along Berry Road in Suva today being organised by the Fiji Trades Union Congress.
About 180 people including NFP parliamentarian Lenora Qereqeretabua and SODELPA MP, Lynda Tabuya have gathered for the peaceful assembly.
FTUC is having peaceful gatherings by unions and workers around the country after their application to march today was denied by Police.
National Secretary Felix Anthony says he met with Police yesterday and they have assured that they will not intervene in cases of a peaceful assembly.
Gatherings are also taking place at union properties in Lautoka and Nadi.
The Fiji Trades Union Congress says these peaceful workers gatherings are being held for them to raise campaign issues such the National Minimum Wage, Right to Strike, Labour Law Reforms, Imposition of Individual Contracts, Federated Airline Staff Association Issues, Vatukoula Strike and Harassment and intimidation of trade unionists.
