Fiji Election Results Update, noon, 15 November

pn170
With votes from nearly three-quarters of the 2,170 polling stations now counted, preliminary results show FijFirst leading with 191,266 (51.63%) votes, SODELPA 140,963 (38.05%) votes and National Federation Party with 27,769 (7.50%) votes. The other three parties, whose combined votes totalled 2.80%,  fell short of the 5% threshold.

These result would see FF winning 27 of the 51 seats in Parliament, SODELPA winning 20 and NFP winning 4, two seats short of being able to form a Coalition  government.

But with the votes from 584 polling stations still to be counted —and all results to be validated—  it is too early for FijiFirst to claim victory.

Polling stations with votes still uncounted are likely to include many in remote rural localities where  the population is mainly Taukei and possibly more likely to vote for SODELPA.
