pn901 . The War in Ukraine — and how America cannot lose whichever way it goes

No, Russia should not have invaded Ukraine despite its reneging on the Minsk Agreement and its reaching out to join the EU and  NATO.

Neither should the US have invaded Iraq, threatened Iran and Venezuela, boycotted Cuba, and helped assassinate Allende in Chile. Not to mention the CIA training Ukrainian forces for the past six to eight years.

But that's what powerful nations do when they can get away with it,  which they often do thanks largely to the media shaping public opinion.  When the other side does it we call it propaganda in an unfree nation; when we do it it's called the free press of the free world.

The Russians have long been fearful of the ever-eastward movement of NATO (see map) Now it's worse with Finland and Sweden seeking to join.

If Russia loses in Ukraine, it will be encircled by NATO forces from Canada and Alaska over the North Pole,to the Baltic states, Poland and eastern Europe, Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia. One wonders how America would react to a similar hostile encirclement.

The US cannot lose whatever the Ukraine outcome.  If Ukraine wins, the US wins. If Ukraine loses and Russia wins, the Russian economy and influence on the world will be greatly weakened.

All this without the loss of one American. Meanwhile,  America will continue to supply arms and  support Ukraine in its fight to the death of the last Ukrainian.
