pn882. The Ukraine through others' eyes

An online conversation with Yuval Noah Harari and
Timothy Snyder, moderated by  Anne Applebaum

Dear Croz,
You may well have seen this, but if not its worth a look. Anne A with Yuval Harari and Ukraine expert Tim Snyder. https://youtu.be/wCjBki16zl0

A little dated I'm afraid, a couple of weeks old, but nevertheless powerfully presenting the challenge. Not simply to NATO and Europe, but to the world and the civilization we have so painfully developed.   Warmest wishes,  Peter

I'm not as enthusiastic as Peter about these interviews.  The section on Putin and the invasion tells us little not covered by other sources.  It does not even mention NATO, one of Putin's major concerns.

The interviews focus more on how Ukraine is helping the West to see itself on issues such as democracy, values and the role of history in influencing but not determining the present and future. Perhaps this is their main value.

It's a long programme. Over an hour. And there's a fair amount of repetition.  But it's well worth a look with your finger on the fast forward button.  Thanks, Peter, for bringing it to my attention.
