pn765. "No Jab; No Job": When Breaking the Law could be a Good Thing.

PM Voqere Bainimarama may have broken the law with his "no jabs, no jabs" statement as a Human Rights lawyer claims but with over a thousand new cases in the past 24 hours, the lawyer has picked a poor time to be prissy!

Meanwhile, The Fiji Times report that Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said some nurses have been sent home on leave for refusing to take the AstraZeneca jab.

He said an unvaccinated person would pose a great risk to the vulnerable population but did not respond to queries on the number of medical staff members involved and how it would affect the Health Ministry’s operations.

The no jab, no job policy was announced last week by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

It is, in my opinion,  unbelievable, in Fiji's circumstances, that the announcement drew a huge outcry from worker unions, the legal fraternity and human rights advocates.

They would be far better performing unskilled jobs at short-staffed hospitals and vaccination clinics.

This is not the time to make disguised political statements against the government.  -- ACW
