pn610. Key to the Party

Hallelujah!
Speaking at the National Party AGM yesterday, former leader and PM Sir John Key reassured  members that Jacinda was beatable if the party took notice of some hard truths.

These included not under-estimating Jacinda and her advisers (or expect to be in opposition for "a very long time"), offering alternative policies and assuring the public of our confidence.

“The public needs to hear our message, they need to hear us talking about them and their families.  They don’t want to hear us talking about ourselves. They have to be assured of our competence. They don't want to hear us talking about ourselves."

To MPs who leaked confidential party information to the media, he said stop leaking or get out of the party.   To read the full report, Click here.

P.S. Jacinda Ardern was amongst the top three up for the award of the Nobel peace prize, and earlier this week she won a prestigious Harvard University award previously awarded to Nelson Mandela.  "Jacinda Ardern has been recognised with an international leadership award by the Harvard Kennedy School but has passed on the US$150,000 (NZ$216,000) prize to Kiwis studying at the prestigious US university." Click here.
