One thing that won't hurt FijiFirst at the next election is this
major rift within SODELPA. How often has a political party been taken to court by its own members?
"A group led by the party’s Suva constituency president Watisoni Nata
has taken Social Democratic Liberal Party president Ro Filipe Tuisawau,
Anare Jale, Adi Litia Qionibaravi and Usaia Waqatairewa to court.
"The group claims there was an alleged breach of the party’s
constitution and the Political Party Registration, Conduct, Funding and
Disclosures Act 2013.
The action is linked to the party’s annual general assembly, held in Yaroi Village, Savusavu."
Politics aside, this is good news. Free
health screening for female market vendors,
"Hundreds of female market vendors who do not have time to visit
health centres got free health screenings in Nausori, Levuka, Labasa,
and Savusavu today.
This was provided by Medical Services Pacific, Ministry of Health and
Diabetes Fiji, and was funded by the British High Commission."
and the completion of data on the country's 1171 villages. The
village profiling will assist Government and other agencies to direct assist appropriate assistance where it is most needed.
"The i-Taukei Affairs Board has completed 98%of the Village Profiling Exercise for all 1171 villages in Fiji. TAB chief executive Meleti Bainimarama said the data collected will
assist in the formulation of village development plans to address socio
economic gaps and current emerging issues.
“At the national level, government can utilise the data in policy
making on how best to assist the village especially in regards to budget
allocation.”
“At divisional level, the information can assist divisional leaders in
planning while at provincial level it can assist them in prioritising
key issues that needs to be addressed urgently such as loss and damage
as a result of climate change,” he said.
"The village profiling includes house-to-house surveys, detailed
information of families, children welfare and more from all 14
provinces."
