Saluting Fr Kevin Barr

A large number of people read my earlier posting containing  Fr Barr's letter which refuted  allegations over the Lagilagi settlement.

I take this as an indication of the special place he has in many people's thoughts and hearts.

Here is one (slightly edited) comment that I thought deserved greater prominence.

SERVICE OF INCOMPETENCE Minister Parveen Bala

I salute Fr Kevin Barr for his tremendous achievements in working in informal settlements Fiji.

I say this because I personally knew him during my days in the Ministry for Labor Industrial Relation & Employment whilst Mai’tau Taito Waqa was Permanent Secretary. Fr Kevin Barr was a  member of a few government Boards include Industrial & Employment Relation Board then.

His credibility and the selfless attitude shown in his work reflects well what Jesus said to His followers,  “I come forth to serve and not to be served”.

I accept in good faith Fr Kevin Barr 's report on the discovery of some big problems as related in the "Lagilagi Controversy: Government and the People's Community Network, Part II."

Fr Kevin Barr’s report has implicated Minister Parveen Bala INCOMPETENCE right from 2016 carried over to 2019, which resulted in 76 houses not being built, and only 40 had been put up recently.

I hope a special task force will be established to investigate the actions of the former Minister for Local Government Parveen Bala.

Parveen Bala 's incompetence and ignorance has brought Fr Kevin Barr’s clean service report into disrepute, and put him under tremendous pressure which contributed towards him being bedridden with severe sickness and a stroke.
