A note to Fiji readers who may not have seen this offer.

ENERGY FIJI LIMITED OFFERING FREE SHARES TO ALL DOMESTIC CUSTOMERS

The Fiji Electricity Authority has successfully been corporatised and is now Energy Fiji Limited or EFL; Government’s newest limited liability company.

As a public company limited by shares, Energy Fiji Limited is harnessing the expertise, innovation and efficiency of the private sector like never before. Now, the Fijian people will be served by a competitive and customer-focused energy provider that is fully capable of meeting our country’s growing need for clean and renewable energy.

EFL is putting the Fijian people at the very centre of Fiji’s energy sector. As part of that commitment, the Fijian Government is offering non-voting shares in EFL to domestic electricity customers completely free of charge -- giving Fijians the chance to become shareholders in a billion-dollar asset company.

So who can become a shareholder? Any Fijian citizen who is a resident in Fiji and an existing EFL customer can accept this free offer and become a shareholder in EFL. Future customers who are Fijian citizens and residents will also be eligible for this free offer. Being a shareholder means you will be entitled to receive dividends, meaning that when EFL makes a profit, money goes directly into your pocket. Additionally, shareholders will benefit from any capital appreciation.

But should you wish to sell your shares, you can also do so, as we plan to list them on the South Pacific Stock Exchange. When we list EFL on the South Pacific Stock Exchange, shareholders will then be able to buy or sell their shares through the SPSE platform over a period of time.

So how can you join your Government as a shareholder in EFL? EFL will be sending Offer Letters, together with an Application Form, to domestic customers by post and e-mail with personal deliveries made to pre-paid customers during the week of 23 April 2018. Application forms are also available through the EFL website at efl.com.fj/shares/apply-now Once you’ve reviewed the eligibility requirements, all you need to do to accept this offer is to complete the Application Form and return it to EFL prior to 4pm on Tuesday 29 May 2018. Applications can be submitted online at efl.com.fj/shares/apply-now; over e-mail at shares@efl.com.fj; by post to “Share Offer, Energy Fiji Ltd, Private Mail Bag, Suva”; or hand delivered to one of the Temporary Customer Care Centres which will be set up by EFL.

Locations and details of the Temporary Customer Care Centres are published in this newspaper, on the EFL website, on the Fijian Government Facebook page, on the EFL Facebook page and announced on radio stations. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us on our toll-free number 1333 or visit any Temporary Customer Care Centre when they open next week. We urge all Fijians who are eligible to take advantage of this free share offer. This is your chance to become a shareholder in a major Fijian company and share in the success of Energy Fiji Limited’s bright future. Thank you.
