For and Against Lowering the MMP Threshold

The Green Party has put forward a members bill which, among other things, advocates lowering the MMP threshold from 5% to 4%.

Donyl McLauchlan in the Spinoff once supported lowering the threshold to 4%.  Now he's not so sure.
And it's all because of power and influence exercised by Winston Peters. But Peters is a one-off. Few others could copy his skills and appeal, and Peters, aged 73 in a month's time, must surely retire before the next two-three elections.  Even he can't last forever.

I'd support the 4% for the reasons McLauchlan once did.
