Croz, it's amazing how your website has come under such a barrage of attack recently by half people like this fool. You'd imagine that they'd have something better to do than to insult the intelligence of those who appreciate your enlightening articles. Pray God that it's not too many moons before they crawl back into the slime pit from whence they emerged.
In a sycophantic presentation, Ashwin Raj from USP stated that the 2006 coup was a surgical strike. Is this the calibre of people at USP? Does Ashwin know the meaning of a surgical strike? Does a 'surgical strike' last six years? Who allowed this joker make the opening speech? What were conference organisers' thinking? Should they not be sacked?
This says a lot about USP. It is alarming how it has deteriorated to a nothing institution - almost as low as the junta Uni of Fiji? Perhaps it is this Raj who needs a 'surgical strike'?
@ Surgical strike. The speech was only sycophantic if Ashwin did not mean what he said. Are you sure he didn't? And what is wrong with "surgical strike"? From some people's perspective (not yours, obviously) it's not a bad description of the 2006 coup.
@Goes around ... What says a lot about USP? One person's speech? I think it says more about you if you think an institution can be judged by what one of its members say? As for "Raj", do I hear axes grinding? And why is the University of Fiji a junta university? You lash out at people and institutions you do not like without giving one good reason why you hold these views. I wonder where you received your education.
Croz
Good to see you hiding behind your lack of integrity like a true junta fool! So much for the new accountability and transparency?
So Croz you are now openly admitting and endorsing the 'surgical strike' by armed military thugs to commit treason against a legitimately elected government? Do you think 'surgical strike' is a good term to use for a treasonous act that has caused so much damage to Fiji? Does USP think that a 'surgical strike' against an elected government is something to endorse? This admission has lifted the terrible situation faced by the people of Fiji to a new and alarming level. You and this fool Raj have blighted the name of the Fiji military and its once proud reputation. 'Surgical strike' against its own people? No wonder their are restrictions and sanctions against the military and ther families. But at least at last you are honest in your admission of their terrible act.
Another 24 hours and Croz is still unable to enlighten his readers as to the legal credentials of G Larson and G Lawson.
I think that shows we can ignore their views on the law as they are just as knowledgeable as this big mouthed Aussie Red Head.
I have not heard of this Ashwin Raj fellow before. He must be a new academic trying to make his mark? I recognise him from a photo with the attorney general that appeared in the Fiji Sun recently. In the picture on this blog, look how he is falling over himself to get photographed with the PM. That looks like sycophancy to me!
Yes, this fool Ashwin 'surgical strike' Raj has brought great shame to USP and in one speech destroyed the reputation of the Fiji military? Does the regime MOI and its boss Shazza endorse and agree that the unlawful treasonous act on Dec 5 2006 was a 'surgical strike' by the Fiji military against its own people?
Everytime these fools like Raj open their mouth they put another nail in the junta coffin.
@ Surgical Strike & Croz
I think 'Pre-emptive Strike' would be a a more appropriate description. The Police investigation into the murder of the mutineers which may have had something to do with it.
@ Shazzer ...Oh! how devious you are! I asked for the legal credentials of the anonymous person who questioned this article to which I have received no reply. But you say it is me who errs because I have had 24 hours to answer a question that was not put. As the publisher of this blog I vet the credentials of the persons whose articles I choose to publish. I respect everyone's perceived need for anonymity and I do not need to share this information with you. I also exercise a publisher's right to ask those who comment to inform me of their credentials. I have put my cards on the table and ask you to show yours. But please do not respond to this comment unless you have a fair and logical response. I am not trying to appear smart or win points in an internet argument. I care about Fiji.
@ Cin Cin ... I agree. But you and I did not present this address and, really, those who question "surgical strike" are merely playing with words. Don't you think we could all be making more useful contributions to discussion about the constitution dialogue process?
True, it is bit of a moot point.
As for the dialogue process, you would have to question the whole exercise. Nothing that has been raised by the regime is revolutionary - one man one vote, a secular state - all of these could have been achieved by simply taking the old constitution, making the necesary amendments and getting on with things.
What will happen is the whole process will be acted out and the regime will produce a constitution remarkably similar to the old one except with a change to the elctoral laws and the elevation of the military to the God like status it seems to think it warrants. Where it will differ - and this arguably is the purpose of the whole exercise - is a blanket immunity for all and any crimes committed by Frank, Khaiyumwhatshisname, and any other names they choose to write in the blank spaces.

Are G Lawson and G. Larson the same person? If so, who is this person? What is their expertise in law?
Shazzer GrubbySunday, December 9, 2012 7:27:00 AM GMT+13:00
So Please come clean about Larson, his expertise in law and his knowledge of the Fiji situation. So we can decide exactly how substantial (Your word) this contribution by larson is.

@ Shazzer ...Oh! how devious you are! I asked for the legal credentials of the anonymous person who questioned this article to which I have received no reply. But you say it is me who errs because I have had 24 hours to answer a question that was not put.
Croz,
As you can see from the exchange you were asked What was their (G Larson) expertise in law at 10.13 on December 8th.
I asked you the same question at 7.27 on December 9th
But you reply 8.23 PM on December 10 that the question was never put. A whole 60 hours later.
I am not being devious. All I want to know is what are the credentials of Larson. Fair enough he might want to remain anonymous. But surely you can tell us if he is a lawyer is currently practicing and if he or she has knowledge of Fiji.
I also care about Fiji. You believe the best way to move Fiji forwards is to excuse and apologise for Bainimarama’s every wrong doing.
I on the other hand believe the only way to move Fiji forward is to expose Frankly Bananas and Aiyarse for the terrible cheats, liars, fraudsters and incompetents that they are.
Crosbie, I'm interested in your decision to remove some recent articles in their entirity. Specifically those articles that contain comments from Greg Bullard which were just prior to G. Larson/ Lawson's articles.
Would you care to let your readers know why you've removed the posts?
Bainimarama's 'surgical strike' is like Bush's 'surgical strike' strike in Iraq and Afghanistan. Surely USP academics can do better?
@ Gutter press ... I have not deleted any article but I did remove a long unsolicited comment from Greg that he distributed to a number of blogs. You may recall I had earlier signaled that I would be making no further comment on his situation. My reason for this is that I have confidential information (not from Government) that tells a very different story than the one he tells. To have permitted his comment would have left him to make his case while preventing me from responding. I'm sure the many anti-blogs, that seldom check their sources, will provide their readers with more than enough opportunities to comment. I don't expect you to accept my explanation but for the reasons stated, I'd prefer not to discuss the matter further.
@ Shazzer ... I check out all my sources as best I can and do not publish articles by people like Larson unless I am satisfied with their credentials. He or she is a lawyer ... currently practicing and is knowledgeable on Fiji.
By 'credentials' do you mean they must be either junta groupies or jungle bunnies?
Crosbie, you’ve asserted that you have removed Greg Bullard’s comments but you haven’t removed any article. I beg to differ.
The entire article which Greg Bullard commented on has been removed. To refresh your memory, the article was your highlighting of an earlier comment that I’d made, together with your reply. Your reply – in case you’ve forgotten, contained your comment “you and I have difficulties with this” (‘this’ being the ‘inability’ of the court to hear decrees which it is barred by the legislature from hearing).
So whilst I do accept your explanation of why Greg Bullard’s comment has been removed, I think you’ve not given the full reason the entire article was removed. However given your decision not to discuss this matter further I don't expect to be enlightened.
and you dont even know who you are, hiding behind 3 names !!
Speaks volumes about you !!
It was a surgical strike against a corrupt government. It cut away corruption, and all the losers who were booted out of the gravy train, are now venting their frustrations on various blogs!!
Get real guys, get a real job and work for a living, not rely on handouts.
Croz
It looks as though Amnesty International has just done a 'surgical strike' on the cowardly dictator and his military junta thugs? It will be interesting to see how you and the other junta groupies who have benefited in some way from this illegal regime will try and deny this alarming and dreadful allegation? Or will you continue to be in denial as per usual junta 'group think'?
There would be as much chance of getting a comment from Croz on these allegations as him doing a credible report on the litany of abuses by the regime over tha past 6 years, himself. He has NO interest in any truthful (negative) reporting of the regime that he is so keen to support no matter the cost, to others of course. It begs the question, what does the regime have to do to lose his support? Clearly it would be to do the same, as alleged, to him. But even then...
@ %$#@! ... If this is all you can say, wouldn't it be better for you to look for news and opinions from blogs that report events in the way you would like them to be (i.e. negative=truthful). You comment here adds nothing to any discussion on this blog and it is, of course, exceedingly insulting
@ muttifala govind
So govind, every time there is a hint of corruption there should be a coup? That could be a problems for your home country?
One would have thought the human rights abuse and anal rape by the thugs from the illegal junta you support might be a little more insulting? Wouldn't you and Mrs Croz agree? When is your next free trip to visit the abusers?
'like them to be' you don't even deign to report what is at times not even in disupte, but just inconvenient to your stated support for the military regime in Fiji. How about you just lift YOUR game Croz, and your expectations of the regime rather than us have to look elsewhere for a less blinkered and apologist approach to the regime. Start calling things out for what they are!! Not for what you would hope them to be.
Thank you Croz for giving up your time freely to provide a useful forum for discussion, debate, alternative views and constructive ideas for getting Fiji out of the coup situation peacefully, without further damage to the country and its people. We do not have enough forums for constructive discussions. Other blogs mostly spew hatred, racism, make personal attacks and call for violence. Nothing constructive or intellectual, it's all gutter level and destructive. Some of those attacking you belong come from such places. Look underneath and you will find that these are mostly racists and supremacists. They hate you because of your stand for multiracialism, but of course they will deny this, and use the coup and Bainimarama to hie their true feelings of racial hatred.
Carry on regardless of these people Croz. You have a lot of admirers who truly value the great service you are providing.
nothing intellectual about support for a military regime that appears to be still behind dusgusting abuses and clearly needs to maintain its power to protect its own secrets and cronysism.
Thank you to all bloggers.....@Surgical Strike...the views of Ashwini are his own and does not represent USP. Iam a USP student and all I can say is that at USP,we are taught to be independent thinkers. Also we are taught to evaluate situations closely and help in the development of our country....evenwhen it clashed with our own interests (patriotism)
@ Goes Around....USP is still a leading university in the region and it will continue to be so.....as we have a lot of researchers such as Ashwini and Alisi who are digging for the truth. Alisi Daurewa's theory about iTaukeii origins was quite true. The oral recollections of the descendants of Lutumailagi were shelved during the olden days, with the Colonial Govt. one size fits all. Very soon, the truth will be out and that is the time that we are all waiting for. While most of you may hate this govt., one thing is for sure, their time to lead will also come to an end.
@ Muttifalla....Corruption by this Military Govt. was worst than any other elected govt. Imagine Frank getting $750,000 as saalary. Guess wat, he bought his daughters house in Namadi by cash. The real salarry for the Commodore of the RFMF is jjust $50-60K. Other Ministers and senior offiicials arealso on the same boat. The nepotism by Kyaihum of appointing relatives into senior posts and a lot more. Fiji is so corrupt that we are just waiting for the right time, when the new leaders will lead my beloved nation. Me CCecebuya na Drotini nei Viti.
