CCF to Launch Constitution Guide

The Citizens Constitutional Forum (CCF) will be launching a book soon to guide citizens as Fiji prepares to engage into constitution consultation.

CCF chief executive Reverend Akuila Yabaki in a statement said the book will assist in generating constructive discussion, debate and dialogue and find ways to reach consensus on the path towards constitutional democracy

Rev Yabaki said the book provides a practical guidance on how to design transparent, nationally owned processes that are also participatory and inclusive.

He said the book will be available to national and international organisations as well as governments involved in post-conflict constitution making.

“It is not through sheer coincidence that this launch comes at a time when those genuinely seeking a legitimate path towards constitutional democracy in Fiji are eager to seek solutions,” he said.

The book will be launched by former Vice President Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi on Wednesday.

Hasn't the regime decided to cancel Public Relations & Media Unit consultations without any explanation? so true to form for the regime then. What an interesting start to 'dialogue'. i had already presumed that 'dialogue' with this regime will end up as them talking at people and marginilising any opposition or criticism if it doesn't fit their model. Has anyone seen anything that would make suggest otherwise?

@ Saras'sista ... Thank you again for your optimistic interpretation of events in Fiji. What would we do without you turning every smile and mile into gloom and doom. But where did you get this information and what does it have to do on the constitution consultations planned for next month?

Croz first post was spam.

Croz
what do you think we should do? All pretend that everything is ok in Fiji like the handful of junta groupies and apologists? The constitution of Fiji (or anywhere else) cannot be legitimately changed on a whim and at the point of a gun. A parliamentary process with credibility is an absolute necessity. And in Fiji the parliamentary process has been destroyed and replaced by a non elected and increasingly repressive dictatorship. Correct me if I am wrong?

@ Let's all pretend ... You are right and wrong. Wrong because the process will go ahead and it is important to produce the best possible constitution; right because whatever happens, the constitution will need to be approved or modified by the next elected government.
