Why Did it Take So Long?

The widow of a soldier killed in Lebanon in 1979, leaving her to raise four young children, finally receives some compensation for her loss and sacrifice. Why did it take so long?

But more to the point - $24,000 for a life? How much would she have received if she had been immediately compensated? $10,000? 15?

I think the maximum pay out for loss of life under Fiji's Workmens Compensation Laws is $24,000.

Over 30 years later certainly $24,000 should be paid with adjustments on inflation and interest had this been taken on by a lawyer.

Ms Francis however looks happy and thats who matters in this case.
