(o) Eight Hundred Homes Destroyed or Damaged


Disaster Management operations officer Anthony Blake has confirmed that  376 homes were destroyed and 423 damaged by Hurricane Tomas. This is the breakdown by location:

Northern Division
Qamea and Taveuni - 89 structures destroyed, 240 damaged including two schools
Vanua Levu – 23 destroyed, 40 damaged including 3 churches
Eastern Division: Lomaiviti
Gau - 3 structures destroyed, 23 damaged including a health centre and community hall
Nairai - 3 structures destroyed, 17 damaged including one school
Batiki - no buildings destroyed, 3 damaged
Koro -7 structures destroyed, 26 damaged including one school
Eastern Division: Lau
Vanuabalavu – 205 destroyed, 4 damaged
Matuku – 5 destroyed, none damaged
Totoya – 14 destroyed, 11 damaged including one school
Cicia – 8 destroyed, 9 damaged plus one school
Ono – 6 destroyed, 3 damaged plus one school
Mago – 2 damaged including a jetty
Lakeba – 1 destroyed
Moala – 10 destroyed, 22 damaged
Yacata – 2 destroyed, 16 damaged plus one school
