A letter in today's Fiji Times headed: COMMONWEALTH FRIENDS reminds us that "Some of our best men gave their lives defending the United Kingdom in WWII: and those currently with the British Army are active in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

"The Commonwealth chooses to ignore these facts, suspends us and penalises our young sports men and women"

The letter goes on to say that with the admittance of Rwanda where "in just three months, an estimated 800,000 plus men, women and children were massacred (BBC News Online)".

"That is just about equal to the total population of Fiji"

It finishes: "We have been insulted, Fiji".

Is this conclusion justified? I rather think it is.
