It's instructive, from time to time, to see what the rabidly anti-Government blogs are doing to bring about a peaceful and acceptable resolution to the situation in Fiji. These are the latest postings in Sai's blog:

"It would therefore be in ANZAC's permanent interest to intervene now to free Fiji from tyranny and return the country to its peoples." [A pretty direct invitation to invade Fiji.]

LEWENI APPOINTED TO FIJI TV BOARD. A re-post from Coupfourpointfive. [The Lt.Col. was elected by shareholders. I think all the other Board members are civilians.]
DOCUMENT PROVES SAYED-KHAIYUM'S SHADY DEAL. A re-post from Coupfourpointfive. [I have no way of knowing whether $810,000 is inflated, but the property is in downtown Suva.]
ILLEGAL REGIME LEADERS AND SUPPORTERS ENJOY PERKS. Reports that passengers on Air Pacific's official inaugural flight to Hong Kong included a number of prominent government and Air Pacific figures and their wives. [A not unusual happening on inaugural flights in any country.]
Note how one blog recycles postings in other blogs; how the threats verge on the inciteful; how everything is personalised, and how nothing Government does earns any praise. When accommodation is desperately needed by all involved to break the current impasse, the anti-blogs help to perpetuate the impasse, and provide the regime with all the arguments it needs to extend the Public Emergency Regulations indefinitely. Sai's blog is by no means among the more extreme of the anti-blogs but he is a respected elder in the NZ Fiji community --- and more might be expected from him.

You are sadly misguided and naive to think that the Fiji regime is made up of reasonable people with noble motives about Fiji and its future. The means the regime employed to achieve power is illegal and as such all its actions are questionable. As Baledrokadroka noted, the regime, having tasted power, will find it difficult to let go. Have you paused to think why it is that the largely indigenous Fijian blogger community are venting their frustation online? They are just speaking their minds and heart about their beloved Fiji and you need to begin to appreciate that. It is their story told in their way and shaped by their hurtful experience and that of their relatives who have suffered under the regime. Not for them is an academic exercise of objective and neutral observation in the hope that it will entice the regime to return Fiji to democratic rule. One cannot see any sign from the regime of a willingness to listen let alone engage with a diverse group in Fiji other than from its own support base. I would suggest the sooner you begin to see the story told by Fijians about their country in their own eyes the better will be your take on Fiji.Vinaka.

Well said Sai, the same is true for LQ. It hurts when the shoe is on the other foot, doesn't it Sai? It was Frank who bestowed the honours on LQ of steering his beloved Fiji out of the doldrums of 2000. He tasted power, as you say, and made a real mess of it. There is absolutely no question of Frank tasting power because he always had the ultimate power. He could have taken over in 2000 if he wanted to, but he opted otherwise, hoping that sanity will prevail and LQ would steer the country in the right direction. He was wrong then, wasn't he?
Surprise, surprise. Another Lauan apologist for the deposed Lauan, Laisenia Qarase, who's ultimately responsible for the plight Fiji finds itself in. Sai Lealea is evidently one of those Fijian professionals who lives in padded comfort abroad but assumes the mantle of indigenous superiority when it suits him. The giveaway is the final portion of his missive: "...the sooner you begin to see the story told by Fijians about their country in their own eyes the better will be your take on Fiji". In other words, only by embracing MY perspective will you be anywhere near understanding the truth about Fiji. Unadulterated, self-serving nonsense. So much so that I wonder whether this man's surname is misspelt and ought to read LiaLia ( stupid ). These aren't the musings of a democrat but an indigenous malcontent clearly motivated by anger that his "relatives have suffered under the regime", as he describes it. Yes, by being knocked off their perches when their lot tried to introduce laws that would have disadvantaged the other races in Fiji. You've got to hand it to Sai for at least using his real name and even treating us to a photograph that shows just how far he's travelled from his remote island roots. But rest assured, Croz, he's got no right to lecture you about your own take on events in Fiji. Sai Lealea and Jone Baledrokadroka are living proof that all the education in the world can't separate some indigenous Fijians from a smug sense of racial superiority and self-entitlement.
I am astonished that two of the phrases I used in personal postings on Coup 4.5 have been ascribed to "goons" working on behalf of the military. Those phrases are " turncoat Girmit Baini Brij Lal and " uncle Tom Indians". I am a private citizen with nothing to do with the military. And I didn't mean them as racist comments, as you seem to have accepted Croz. I regard Brij Lal as a turncoat for having turned his back on his self declared roots as a descendent of Girmits for a life of comfort in Australia. And also a turncoat for opposing the current regime when it is arguably the only force in Fiji right now capable of defending the rights of Indo-Fijians and the other races against the indigenous tide. Lal and Warden Narsey are also, in my view, "Indian Uncle Toms" in that they identify with the cause of the very forces that seek to ensure their marginalisation in national life. For these anti-regime blogs to seize on my comments and ascribe them to "goons" in the Fiji military shows just how deluded they've become. The Fiji military has no capacity, as far as I can see, to mount such a campaign or they'd be doing it a lot more effectively. This is an astonishing case of these bloggers leaping at shadows. Frankly, I don't know whether to be flattered that my pedestrian musings have become a cause celebre or aggrieved that they're being unfairly ascribed to the "goons", who must be equally bemused by yet another bout of excessive paranoia. A script more worthy of The Goons of BBC Radio fame.
I would not worry about the anto blogs too much!! On the ground in Fij they are becoming more and more irrelevant
