People of Tailevu have the freedom to choose who to vote for

Taukei may no longer feel it is their traditional duty to vote according to what their chiefs tell them. Indeed, some chiefs will tell their people to vote for whom they please as this Fiji Village article indicates. The Kubuna initiative could be quite a setback for SODELPA whose forebear, SDL, relied heavily on Taukei voting as their chiefs directed.

People of Tailevu have the freedom to choose who to vote for

The chiefs and the people of the vanua of Kubuna will make their individual choices on who they will vote for in the September 17th general election.

This is the response from the chiefly herald of the Vunivalu of Bau Josua Dainiteri following the visit by the leader of the Social Democratic Liberal Party Ro Teimumu Kepa and senior officials of the party last night.

Dainiteri said Bau chief Ratu Epenisa Cakobau accepted the SODELPA team as they were seeking the approval of the chiefs to have campaign meetings in the villages in the province of Tailevu.

He said Ratu Epenisa Cakobau told the delegation that the traditional links between Bau, the vanua of Kubuna and the Marama Roko Tui Dreketi and the vanua of Burebasaga will always remain.

But Dainiteri said the people of Tailevu have the freedom to choose whoever they want to vote for on Election Day.

About 70 people were present at the Ulunivuaka meeting house last night including Roko Tui Bau Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, Ratu Jope Seniloli and SODELPA President Ratu Silivenusi Waqausa who is also from Bau.

SODELPA media manager Sainiana Radrodro said this is a courtesy visit to seek the traditional approval to begin the political campaigns in the province.

The SODELPA team included Ro Teimumu Kepa, the President of the party Silivenusi Waqausa, General Secretary Pio Tabaiwalu and Tailevu representative Ratu Isoa Tikoca.

This is purely because of a grassroots rebellion in the vanua against the chiefs and in favour of Bainimarama. The reason for it is solely the Government's record of service delivery. The main SODELPA pitch is "don't vote for Frank and reward him because he carried out the coup". It's not going to work. Ordinary people heard all the promises from the SDL when it was in government but got nothing. SODELPA will pay for this neglect on September 17th.

Is this really the best that old white racists and Qorvis can do? Read the other white trash story on this racist blog - the coup was good because it improved Natadola Golf course?? That will really help the poor of Fiji? And the illegal regime has now made him thiink that the roads are like 'baby's bottoms'. This clown needs to be investigated?

Other than the introductory paragraph, the article reports what Ratu Epenisa Cakobau had to say. White racists, Qorvis, the job-creating Natadola golf course and improving road infrastructure were not mentioned. Further, I wonder if you can see the inconsistency in your argument. You accuse others of being old white racists and then YOU refer to "white trash" and "this racist blog." I've been called many things over the years, but I've never previously been called a racist..

I think it is becoming very obvious why the illegal regime is distancing itself from people like you? It would appear that free trips to Fiji by the regime for you and your missus have come to an end? Have you both paid back the money you owe the Fijian people yet for your regime freebies?
