Lockington's Everyday Fiji ... Life Goes On

Fiji Water plant
Marketing  FijiI have a suggestion to all sporting bodies, business delegations, religious delegations, and other groups going overseas.
How about taking a few cartons of Fiji water to quench your thirst with. No doubt there will be photo sessions that will go on to the Internet and the world wide web.

And if you are holding a bottle in your hand, you will be doing some marketing while you do your own thing.

How about the Fiji 7s team, can they use Fiji water to quench their thirst and of course the pictures will be televised all over the world.

And remember the slogan - the best water in the world!

No Longer Crime Free
There has been a rise in car thefts in Lautoka. I don't know about the other centres but the feeling is that  all the car thieves have converged in Lautoka.  Anyway, I wonder what it is that makes Lautoka such a lucrative place for this activity? I remember in the not to distant past, Lautoka had a thriving car theft racket. Somehow, something is not ringing right. But many streets that still have no street lights could be a factor, and the police are not patrolling enough to deter thethieves.

We have lots of vehicles that have had their windows broken and you can see this by the plastic that has replaced the glass.

Suva police  have just been given two new vehicles.  Can one be sent to Lautoka, please? And what about the bicycles and motorbikes that were donated. Where are they?

We need to step up patrols in Lautoka to curb crime.

If the police force is short handed, how about deputising some of us who would like to see Lautoka as the best place to live in, in Fiji?

The Council is doing a good job beautifying the city. I especially like the memorial at the festival park that says Lautoka is crime free!  Perhaps it was, for a short while, but not now. The authorities need to put their heads together to make us again crime free.

Allen Lockington is a self-employed customs agent and business consultant who has regular articles published in Fiji. I thank Allen for permission to reprint some of them in this political blog. They remind us that life goes on, whatever the political situation. And it's good to know that.
