Good God! And that's an Appeal, Not Blasphemy

A call for all the things that have kept Fiji divided. SDL reveals its true colour and how out of touch it is with the 21st century.  They have clearly learned nothing  over the past six years.

SDL Party wants Fiji to be declared a Christian State
Publish date/time: 06/08/2012 [13:09]

The SDL Party wants Fiji to be declared a Christian State, Christianity to be the state religion and Fijian to be the national language of the state.

While making its submission to the Constitutional Commission, SDL said they want the name “Fijian” to be reserved for the indigenous Fijians and all citizens to be called “Fiji Islanders”.

SDL also proposes that there should be no provisions for dual citizenship.

Speaking to the Professor Yash Ghai led commission, the SDL officials say that the party wants the term “sexual orientation” to be removed from the Bill of Rights of the 1997 constitution. In that section it states that a person must not be unfairly discriminated against, directly or indirectly,
on the ground of his or her sexual orientation.

They propose that parliament and senate should be retained, some communal seats to be retained and the balance to be won under the one man one vote system.

On the appointment of the country’s President and Vice President, SDL has suggested that they should still be appointed by the Great Council of Chiefs.

The party said the GCC should be established under the constitution and a GCC Act should clearly set out their roles and functions.

Furthermore SDL said the multi party cabinet provisions should be removed and the principle of
winner takes all should be adopted.

The party also said that clear provisions should be set out on the roles and functions of the RFMF
without any ambiguity.

SDL also stated in its submission that the 1997 constitution should be retained but some important changes should be made.

There are countries around the world that call themselves Islamic states. Do you have a problem with this also? I don't.
The one key lesson I have observed over the last 6 years, and indeed through reading my history, is that attacking the Christian church is not a smart strategic move. In my humble view, apart for the targeting and imprisonment of the elected PM of Fiji, the biggest mistake this unelected regime has made has been to attack the Christian Methodist Church in Fiji? Anyone who thinks that will go undefended is a fool.

@Islamic states. Do have a problem with a Crusader implied rhetoric?

It is a problem the ugly reality slaps you in the face- that these so called Christian nations of US, UK, Aus/NZ, Germany, Canada and others are responsible for the last 2 World Wars, including recent ones in Iraq, Libya and now Syria.

As for SDL...they are a ship of fools.

Instead of trying to get Fiji declared as a Christian State, all SDL members and supporters should follow the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, should love their neighbours as themselves and stop being holier than thou modern day Pharisees. That will make for a better Fiji.

Verily I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for most SDL supporters to enter the Kingdom of God.

Christianity and communality said...

It is not enough to be Christian in name, but in deed also.
We have too much of the former, not enough of the latter.
Hogging a-class FHL shares for self and family is hardly Christian.
How does this behaviour fit with the so-called, sharing-caring Fijian communal system anyway?
It's the same old trick - elites talk up culture while in practice do things un-cultural.
It is the same with Christianity.
It is a tool used to prop up an elite, exploitative, parasitic structure.

what are the SDl supposed to have learnt? they were removed at gunpoint from government, by a miltary that clearly has itself learnt nothing from their own history of overthrowing the elected govenrment of the day and behavinf like they are omnipitant.

@ fly 'It is a problem the ugly reality slaps you in the face- that these so called Christian nations of US, UK, Aus/NZ, Germany, Canada and others are responsible for the last 2 World Wars, including recent ones in Iraq, Libya and now Syria' what bizarre comment... my understanding is that fiji also fought in these conflicts and more than likely the cost was born by others, as ususal. Presumably you would like fiji to be more like the former regimes in Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan as opposed to the other nations you insulted, go for it or emmigrate there an get a taste for yourself.

@ ISLAMIC STATES

iS THIS THE SAME METHODIST CHURCH THAT WAS INVOVLED IN THE 87 AND 2000 COUP, THE SAME CHURCH MEMBERS THAT BURNT AND LOOTED SUVA OR ARE THEY THE METHODIST CHURCH MEMBERS THAT TERRORIZED AND RAPED INDIAN WOMEN IN TAILEVU. YOUR CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES ARE UNBELIEVEABLE. SO MUCH FOR CHRISTIAN VALUES,THE SDL, METHODIST CHURCH AND YOU ARE A JOKE, A VERY BAD JOKE AT THAT.

@anon tues aug 7th 1pm.

Perhaps you're suggesting Fiji should be a war zone and where ethnic conflict is rife. Where textbook 'divide and rule' destabilization campaigns are waged by those Christian nations I mentioned. In Syria, there are documented accounts of those terrorists funded by US, UK, Qatar and others, ransacking churches.

In regards to the SDL submission,

Radio Aust article, says SDL imposter gave those said comments about Fiji being a Christian nation.

the sdl has not yet given their official submission. just goes to show how low you would go to support the illegal dictator and his illegal supporters. you just want to create mischief amongst the fiji people.
